Rescuing bottles from the recycling bin, Green Glass Company has developed a patented technique for turning old wine bottles into two separate new pieces of elegant drinkware and in doing so has become the largest producer of reclaimed glassware in the world.

The bottles come out of the waste stream and are sorted and supplied by a partner network of wineries and glass manufacturers. The company then uses their state of the art machinery to create two drinking pieces from one bottle without wasting glass by forming goblets from the top halves of wine bottles and matching tumblers from the bottom halves.

Their signature process is also energy friendly; using only a small amount of fossil fuel. By re-purposing the bottles significantly less energy is used when compared with conventional methods of recycling glass where the entire bottle must be melted to remake the glass into some other form. Furthermore, the frosted pieces are created by sandblasting instead of the non-environmentally friendly method of acid etching.
